Motif #1 Wax Seal Charm, red fishing shack, Bearskin Neck, Rockport, Cape Ann, New England Maritime, shack, wax seal jewelry, motif #1 necklace
Motif #1 – the iconic red fishing shack on Bearskin Neck Wharf in Rockport that was built in the 1840’s. It has long been known as the Motif #1 because it is the most painted building in America due to the composition and lighting of the location as well as being a symbol of New England maritime life. The shack was used in 1930’s as a studio for painter John Buckley who in 1845 sold the building to Rockport “as a monument to Rockporters who had served in the Armed Services.” In 1978 the shack was rebuilt after being destroyed in the Blizzard of 1978.This charm measures approximately 3/4". Because the charms are each hand crafted, their size may vary ever-so-slightly.
Each seal is available in silver (99.99 percent silver vs. 92.5 which is sterling) or bronze for the same price. Each seal comes with a story about its existence (as seen in first paragraph of description)
99% of my charms are available to ship immediately from stock on hand. Rarely, but every once in a while when a charm is in high demand, it might take up to 1 week to ship.
